Tizzzz the season!!!
For parties that is. Im sure we have all been to some great parties, ones to remember and then there are those ones that we wish we could forget. What happened where did it go wrong? Was it the food, the drink, the décor, the event space? All of these thing should have been taken into consideration, but some how were overlooked.
Planning a party/event is not always as easy as we think but here are some basic essentials to hosting the most FABOLOUS event big or small.
First, consider how many people you are going to have over 50 you might want to get an event space having more than 50 at your house can be a headache. But it is possible just think about ways to extend your space move furniture, rent a tent for the back yard, make sure bathrooms are stocked. Yes this is important. And for bachelors with bachelor pads, think of emergency women need. :)
Next decoration/ ambience think of what you want the overall look feel to be, holiday party stick to a color scheme through the space. Don't bring out spiderman plates from your sons last birthday, can anyone say TACKY! Make sure you have enough of everything for your guest. "Make a list check it twice." Check list plates, napkins, straws, cups. Tea light candles, flowers, are always a nice touch.
So we all know the Bar area is usally the most popular place at a party make sure you have everything you need. Think of a fun signature drink they are always a big hit. Get a few different kinds of liquor, basics are vodka, rum, gin, tequila, and a whiskey you can pretty much make any drink with these 5 liquors. Get a local brew maybe Yazoo for your out of town guest to try something Nashville. For wine have some fun get some things you have never tried before there are sale sections at liquor stores bottles they may only have one or two left you can get amazing deals. Or even ask your guest to bring their favorite.
Food is another big part of a great party if you are going to DIY make sure you taste before you serve, don't try a new dish out on your friends and family they don't want to eat your experiments. Easy go to dishes fruit, veggie, cheese trays with a veriety of seasonal items. spread it out though out the space it will help your guest move around. If your not a good cook or don't want to deal with it a lot of resturants have catering menus you can just pick it up and set it out. Put some personal touches on it transfer it to fun dishes your own platters or holiday/ theme of event color disposable trays inexpensive un way to spruce up the food.
Your guest came to have a good time if things are not going as planned for you at your event they don't want to know put on a happy face and go with the flow. The #1 rule as a professional event planner never let them see you sweat. Improvise they will never know something went wrong just keep your cool if the DJ is late pay your own music, food hasn't arrived yet start dinking, just have fun.
Music is another important part of a party don't want to hire a DJ or its not in your budget ask one of your friends who loves music im sure they would be glad to keep the party going. music really sets the mood for any event. Or play Pandora off your phone use a aux cord and plug it up to your tv Easy done and done.
Last but not least make sure everyone gets home safe, have taxi numbers, Uber or DD's on hand to help out.
